Customer Reviews for Viking 6 in 1 Multi Flash Memory Card Reader
Hmmmmmmmmmm posted on 2004-10-08
Worked great for 4 months with 64 mb and 128 mb cards ( all varieties) but recently bought a 512mb memory stick pro duo and won't recognise it at all. Emailed viking and there official reply was it will only support upto 128mb. 128mb is nothing at all these days so go spend your money on something else because if they can't be bothered to support more than 128mb cards then we shouldn't be bothered to spend our money on their products.

Great device. posted on 2004-07-13
This device has worked without any problems since the day I bought it, using it on both XP and 98SE primarily. 98 requiring the drivers isn't a problem as they are provided... XP however recognises the device as a mass USB storage device and displays it straight away ready for use.

It's quick, has all the popular card slots, transfer indicators and was at a good price; I'd recommend it to anyone.

works fine for compact flash but not for SD card posted on 2004-07-03
I have used it to read & write to/from Compact Flash cards many times without problem, mostly for digital camera images. I used it to read SD cards twice, again it's digital camera images. First time it's ok (a 8MB card), but the second time (a 128MB card) it corrupted the data, I have to re-format the card thus lost all images. I still use it for compact flash card, but I have not tried it on SD card since.

Does what it says on the box! posted on 2004-06-02
I wanted to take advantage of the fast usb 2 connection on the computer and avoid using camera batteries when downloading via the (slower) camera slot. The card reader is quick and so far reliable - well worth the money. I have only tried it with the compact flash socket so far. I considered a 'CF only' reader but wanted something a bit more sturdy than the little readers with the the usb slot on the back. The card reader is well packaged and the handbook clear. I have windows 98 and have had no problems. With my Bytestore 40x 256MB card the download times are much quicker than via the camera. The case seems a little plasticy and the card was a tight fit the first time I used it but it seems fine now and I'd rather that than too loose and bent pins! If you've not got one of these card readers yet I definitely recommend them to you- they're MUCH quicker, easier and no more fiddly than connecting the camera itself and also of course don't use up valuable battery capacity- Just the job!

Nice idea doesn't work well if you need the memory stick posted on 2004-03-24
All the memory readers work, but the memory stick doesn't work with windows 2000, and was shiped without a working driver. You will need to download all the new drivers from there website, so don't bother installing the ones they supply. Never got a response from there support and had to return it to Amazon, look at the alternative five in one product, as it is recomended that you download the drivers from that, so I recon it is a better choise.
