I Used it with my 512 memory stick pro. nothing doing. Tried a newer laptop with latest software still no action. Used an old memory stick and bingo it worked. Thats no use to me as my old sticks are too small.
Do not bother with this one its too limited to the original memory stick and does not support memory stick pros and i guess it will fail on the duo as well.
 
Fails to read Sony Memory Stick Pro posted on 2005-11-01
I use a 1 Gb or 512 Mb Memory Stick Pro in my Sony W17 and bought the USB 2 reader which does nothing. Tried it in my laptop and the same. Computers recognise the reader but inserting either of the Mem Sticks does nothing but prompt the message insert disc. Why does it not work and if I send it back through Amazon will it simply be replaced with another that doesnt work or do I actually need another type of reader? Any help greatly appreciated.

I use with Sony Memory Stick Duo (the adapter came with that). If on XP, you dont need disc as system recognises new hardware instantly. Ulead software and extension cable are handy extras. My memory stick is used for my phone (nec e313) so this reader saves sending everything by email which can be expensive and time consuming. Great to use other way round too so can upload from computer to phone. Plug it in and away you go. Couldn't be any easier. Still can't believe the price - fantastic!!!!!

I bought this item along with a Sony 64Mb Memory stick (MagicGate). The Memory Stick worked fine in the Sony Clie PDA, however did nothing when put into the Bytestor reader.
On physical examination the card was a completely different pitch from the reader (i.e. could never work).
Maybe there is more than one size of memory stick, I'm no expert on these things?
Not worth sending back for the price charged, as extension cable and software are worth having.

For a price this cheap its worth getting even if you dont use your memory stick that often. it fits neatly into your usb port and comes supplied with an extension cable for those computers that it cannot fit in. the reader also comes with software including Photo Impact 8 SE an excellent image editing software and also with Ulead Photo Explorer.
