bought this and few pictures then the battery is gone, replaced with few new ones and same thing, a few pictures and is out of battery, i dont think this should be sold on amazon.

Dear Vivitar.
Bought your 8400 Series 1 from Amazon. Takes a fair picture but battery life is grim taking pictures and blink and you miss it trying a film clip. And this is using 2700 NiMH batteries. I've put up with it for 9 months and hence I can't return it, so I'm actually going to flaten it with a sledge hammer to save future frustration.

I loved this little camera when I first got it, despite the massive amount of batteries it needs. Having bought rechargeables with it that didn't bother me too much. However, having had it for 6 months it now refuses to turn on, no matter what I do with it. Hacving poked around the internet this is an apparently common fault. It's very frustrating and disappointing, I've lost 200+ photos. It also takes a long time to focus when you want to use the flash and/or the battery power is low (which is about 5 seconds after you turn it on). I wouldn't recommend this camera for long-term use, or for taking quick snaps.

Don't buy this! The battery life is awful. With freshly charged batteries, I'm getting 3 flash photos (yes, 3!) Every other feature is irrelevant.

Was a Christmas Gift,but only tried out since,but visited Norway recently up to North Cape 'Midnight Sun'.The results are all I hoped for.But,the finest results were on quality gloss paper. Well worth the price
