Customer Reviews for Canon PowerShot A460 Digital Camera - Silver (5.0MP, 4x Optical Zoom) 2.0" LCD
Dreadful posted on 2008-07-18
I bought this last year and wish I hadn't. The pictures are terribly grainy and no amount of fiddling with the settings improves matters. Whatever you do, buy another camera.

Sensational for the price posted on 2008-03-20
I have a semi pro Minolta camera, that I never seem to have to hand when needed, due to its size. It cost almost £1000 a few years ago. It can produce superb pictures, but needs time , effort and some skill to achieve that.

I decided to try a cheap compact (£56) that can easily be carried in the pocket and is ready to go in seconds. The name is pretty re assuring - its a Canon, so you would expect high standards. To say I'm impressed is an understatement. This camera can take stunning photos. It even has a macro facility that allows you to focus within an inch or so of the subject.

With a 2Gig memory card for around £10, you can take and store around 700 photos. I have seen nothing that comes close to the quality of the photos that this can take for less than £200 or so - even on point and shoot auto setting.

As with all smaller cameras, there are limits, but for most users, this ticks all the boxes. There are many features that can be explored, but for most folks will buy this for 'point and shoot' photograhy and will not be dis-appointed. 5 M pixels allows superb A4 reproductions. For most users this is more than enough. I doubt even 1 in 1000 users have ever needed a photo larger than that. Don't be fooled into thinking more pixels equates to a better camera.

While small overall and pocket sized, it is thicker than many newer models, but with a width of about 40mm its still not too large. Why pay many times this price to get more Mpixels and 10mm thinner?

I suspect the Minolta will be up for sale soon!

Excellent product recommended to others posted on 2007-12-14
I am not a good digital camera buyer, but when I bought this camera I was really impressed at the photo/video quality and the great capability to shoot photos in the dark. It also has a traditional viewer to get the angle view of the photo perfect.
This camera in any occasion will not let you down, with sharp, clear and precise photos/videos I would recommend this camera to anyone that wants a good start in Digital Photography or does it as a hobby.
In conclusion, I would give this camera a 10/10 score.

Super for use at school posted on 2007-11-17
We orginally purchased 6 of these for school use by teachers and primary children. They were so good and robust, we have now purchased another 7 so each class has a camera. We set the camera at less pixels to get more on the card, and the quality is still good. We have never had any problems with them, even when they have been dropped!!! We use rechargeable batteries and they seem to last for ever before needing recharging. Certainly worth thinking about for school use.

Excellent - especially the night mode and anti-shake features posted on 2007-11-06
If you do not want to go for digital zooms, I can confidently say that this is the best digital camera. The night mode feature is superb. You dont need to hold steadily for a long time in night-mode to get good quality pictures. This also works in all cases where the light is less. Trying in auto-mode without the flash on also gives extremely good results under less light condition. Pistures taken from moving vehicle under dim light is excellent. So the anti-shake feature is also great. It also has a good macro feature! To sum up, this is a very handy good-quality camera.
