Canon SX120 IS Digital Camera October 2, 2009 J. Bird (Portsmouth, UK) 177 out of 180 found this review helpful
This is my sixth digital camera and personally I have always believed in the ability of up to date technology so its no real surprise to me to see an improvement. This camera is the definition of this IMO. One month later and 600+ pictures later I am staggered at the advance. My last camera a Canon A720 IS was and still is an absolute gem but is blown away by the quality of this new model. Image quality, depth of field, saturation and sharpness are all miles better. And for the £££, well the value for money is amazing! Highly recommended.
Excellent Camera January 28, 2010 Cal (Scotland) 23 out of 23 found this review helpful
I'm no camera buff but I've had some excellent results from this gem. I always thought highly of my old camera (PowerShot A520), & in fact still do, but this one greatly surpasses that one. My only, very minor, negative point is that the outer shell of the camera is made from a hard matt finish plastic that I find makes gripping the camera more difficult. The old A520 you just held easily, this one you have to consciously hold.
Overall, for the money, it's excellent.
Canon SX120 IS - Perfect January 24, 2010 Rakesh S. Pilli (Norwich, UK) 52 out of 53 found this review helpful
This is a very good camera, specially in the price range. I regard it as a mid range between an SLR and a compact. So, if you are one of those photography whos not sure of spending a lot of money on an SLR, I would suggest go for this one. It has a good 10x zoom, which is okay for beginners at serious photography and really good for occasional photography. The camera feels smooth and not bulky at all, although if you are looking for something that might go into ur jeans pocket, this is not the one. The photo quality is amazing with a lot of options. Theres also an easy mode, which is for those new to digital cameras. You dont have to do anything, just click.
I would definitely recommend this product.
Probably best in its class January 1, 2010 William Salamander (Weymouth, UK) 29 out of 30 found this review helpful
As usual Canon delivers excellent picture quality coupled with usability and good features. If you want a relatively compact camera with a 10X zoom factor then this will be difficult to beat unless you pay a lot more. You'd have to be very picky to have any serious criticisms.
Larger than life! June 6, 2010 Lee (Bournemouth UK) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
Words can't do this camera justice!
The pictures are pin sharp with crystal clarity! I've photographed a number of things from an inch-long millipede to the moon in the evening sky all with breath taking results.
The manual focus is easy-peasy and an absolute God send for close-ups.
I was looking for a modern version of my Samsung Slim-Zoom 145 (yes, it lasted that long!) and found what I wanted and a lot more in the Canon SX120IS. The camera has image stabilisation (the `IS' part of its name), which is an amazing feature especially when used on full zoom.
The `shutter-lag' (the time between the `click' of the shutter button and the delay in taking the photograph) is incredibly fast. Not the fastest hand to the draw but I was able to catch a number of Judo-style throws with the practitioners in mid-air.
I love this camera. The range of its abilities is on a par with the human eye. Friends will share a beautiful snapshot of that moment in your life where `you just had to be there'...
Remember this is all from a device not much larger than a 'normal point 'n' shoot' camera.
